Moving from Dysfunction to Function – Building A Cohesive Team

“Not finance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is powerful and so rare.” Patrick Lencioni

Many of you have read Patrick Lencioni’s books including his bestselling “Five Dysfunctions of a Team” and some of you may have even used his materials in your work. In 2013 Lencioni began working with Wiley to develop an assessment-based process for using his model.

This session will introduce you to “The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team” – a new assessment based process developed in conjunction with Lencioni that focuses on creating high-performing, functioning teams. It will include an overview of the Five Behaviors Model and team assessment. It will also include an in depth discussion on why building trust is the first and most critical step in building a healthy team.

We will illustrate ways to build healthy teams through trust and discuss what behaviors create mistrust in the workplace.  Attendees will be engaged in an exercise that will help them identify healthy and unhealthy behaviors in their own organizations.

At the conclusion of this program participants will be able to:

 1.    Describe the five behaviors model.

2.    Discuss the difference between “predictive” and “vulnerability-based” trust.

3.    Recognize behaviors that build trust and those that create mistrust in the workplace.
