Health as a Serious Economic Strategy

 Sponsored by

Join us on October 13, 2015 at the Christiana Hilton at 5:30 pm for a dinner presentation by Jennifer Bagley and Kent Evans from USI on the topic of "Health as a Serious Economic Strategy".

The era of consumerism in medical benefits has done little to curb overall expenses – aside from simply shifting costs to employees.   Employer investments in participatory wellness programs have generally correlated to very little returns, either in cost reductions or healthier employee populations.  Since benefit costs will rise and fall on a population’s underlying health, it’s time to consider health a serious economic strategy.  This session will challenge senior level HR executives to develop policies that help change employees’ behaviors related to their health, with the following learning objectives:

Top conditions by prevalence: chronic conditions may affect a small percentage of an employer’s population, but generally represent the highest costs.  Understand and identify affected member population, whether employee, spouse or dependent.

Incentivize behavior that drives member interaction with primary care physician –early intervention significantly reduces long term costs

Implement a targeted disease management program and use data to evaluate the program’s effectiveness and provide future program direction.  Measure savings in annual premium reductions, and also long term trend.

Develop a program that engages employees and bends an employer’s cost curve, while maintaining EEOC compliance
