Message from our President
Dear DE SHRM Members and Guests:
Welcome to 2016. I wish to reflect on the accomplishments of 2015 and ahead to the opportunities for 2016. The overall chapter vision continues to focus on increasing membership engagement, expanding our advocacy efforts, leveraging partnerships and enhancing our communication and branding. Some of the 2015 goals our Chapter worked on included: providing opportunities for members to enrich and grow their HR knowledge; expanding the State conference; creating volunteer opportunities via committees within the chapter; and participating in Junior Achievement programs. While we did not have the opportunity to build relationships on the legislative front, this will be a key endeavor in the coming year.
We always try to bring new exciting programming. This year will be no different except we will be focusing the programming topics around the SHRM BOCK competency wheel. Likewise, we will review the fantastic feedback received about the conference and continue to enhance our ability to provide valuable education and networking opportunities. We hope that you will join us for one of our programs, whether a breakfast, dinner, workshop, a professional networking event or our annual conference.
The 2016 DE SHRM Board of Directors and I are excited and honored to serve our members. Our goal this year is to create a greater connection between the membership and board opportunities by providing additional committees in order for you to contribute your ideas! Another way to participate in the Delaware SHRM Chapter is to become involved as a volunteer. Delaware SHRM Chapter volunteer committees are a great way for you to develop business and leadership skills and create key contacts in the HR profession.
As we continue to add more information to the website, we encourage you to visit it frequently. Great information such as the monthly chapter meetings and programs, annual state and national conferences, current legislation, scholarship information, job openings, membership and other links are only a few of the items that can be found on the website. You can also connect with DE SHRM on Twitter or through LinkedIn and Facebook.
Thank you for your interest in DE SHRM. I am honored to be entering the second term of my presidency of such a remarkable chapter. I welcome your feedback and look forward to meeting you at the next monthly meeting.
